چکیده
In this paper, we study the intensity noise performance of frequency-doubled lasers. particular, investigate how relative (RIN) multimode fiber lasers is affected by second harmonic generation process. We first develop an analytical approach and show that, in contrast with a single-mode laser, low frequency RIN (or excess noise) two-mode laser can increase more than 6 dB after frequency-doubling operation. This occurs when intensities both modes are different explained nonlinear coupling between modes. To deal commonly-used lasers, have extended our to any number For purpose, developed model numerically simulate dynamics laser. includes sources mode competition due spatial hole burning. It gives access complex amplitude electric field Using model, confirmed that be higher before frequency-doubling.

Intensity noise of mode-locked fiber lasers.
Intensity noise of mode-locked fiber lasers is characterized systematically for all major mode-locking regimes over a wide range of parameters. We find that equally low-noise performance can be obtained in all regimes. Losses in the cavity influence noise strongly without a clear trace in the pulse characteristics. Given that high-energy fiber laser oscillators reported to date have utilized la...
متن کاملModulation Response and Relative Intensity Noise Spectra in Quantum Cascade Lasers
Static properties, relatively intensity noise and intensity modulation response in quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) studied theoretically in this paper. The present rate equations model consists of three equations for the electrons density in the conduction band and one equation for photons density in cavity length. Two equations were derived to calculate the noise and modulation response. Calcula...
متن کاملFour-Wave Mixing of a Laser and Its Frequency-Doubled Version in a Multimode Optical Fiber
It is shown that it is possible to couple a laser beam and its frequency-doubled daughter into a multimode optical fiber through the four-wave mixing nonlinear process and generate a new wavelength. The frequency-doubled daughter can be generated in an external crystal with a large second order nonlinearity. It is argued that while this possibility is within the design parameter range of conven...
متن کاملSpatiotemporal mode-locking in multimode fiber lasers.
A laser is based on the electromagnetic modes of its resonator, which provides the feedback required for oscillation. Enormous progress has been made toward controlling the interactions of longitudinal modes in lasers with a single transverse mode. For example, the field of ultrafast science has been built on lasers that lock many longitudinal modes together to form ultrashort light pulses. How...
